My experiments with RTI - Part 1

As usual, I were away for so long. no excuses other than sheer laziness and lack of drive. I have decided to try once again to change my 3.5 decade long characteristic.
Ever since I were 18, I wanted to take a plunge into the socio-political affairs of our home state. Circumstances, family expectations, individual aspirations and quite a few transient requirements kept me busy with my work and personal life in the first decade of my career. Once I returned from the west and settled in our hometown, that good old desire re appeared. My passion to be a part of the democracy started with a feeble dream that I could contribute effectively to the cause of my state and my nation apart from paying taxes. After lot of discussions with subject matter experts, I have decided my way. I will start sharing my views with people through my blog.I will wait for responses, critiques, appreciations, feedbacks, counter views and alternatives. In this process, I want people to know how I think and what I dream about. If it resonate with masses, great. Else I will continue this long journey as long as I can. I will also make honest attempts to put my thoughts to action so that I can contribute towards the "difference" we all dream everyday.  with that introduction, let me start the first one in this series...

at the onset, let me reiterate my objective. I want to contribute to the transformation of our home state as a much better place for its inmates with every living indice matching the best world standard. I wish to take an active role (however small and insignificant it is) in shaping our tomorrow, definitely a better and promising one. All I have is a dream, vision and commitment. so let me start this humble journey of mine here today...


Not so much into my journey, I Came across a powerful tool to gather information, RTI. I filed my first RTI about KSRTC. My love for KSRTC buses are as old as me. Until I could afford a car, I travelled far and wide in my home state in those lovely red painted buses. green painted ones were a little too expensive to afford those days. My intention for an RTI is purely information purpose and as an opportunity to learn whether we can look for possible ways of improving that area. Its not to expose the corruption or file cases against someone. I believe corruption is nothing but exploitation of existing laws. so as long as the law and law enforcement aren't smart enough, corruption will continue to happen. to curb corruption, all we need is smart laws and smarter enforcement of the same.

Now some basic facts...
in 2010, KSRTC's income was 1159.14 crore. in 2010, KSRTC's expenses were 1342.78 crores. that is 183 crore loss.

now some additional information,
1. Number of Drivers - 13747
2. Number of conductors - 15622.
3. Number of administrative staff - 2595
4. Outstanding Loans - 1269.34 crore
5. Number of schedules per day - 5303
6. Number of running buses - 5924

Now assume 70% efficiency - i.e. on any given day, 30% of buses will be faulty, 30% of drivers,conductors and staff will be on leave.

So new operating figures for a day will be 10,000 drivers, 11,000 conductors, 4150 buses, 1820 administrative staff.

Since Bus is the profit making unit, we'll consider everything relative to a bus.

For every running  bus in KSRTC, we have 2.4 drivers, 2.65 conductors, 0.44 administrative staff, 1.27 schedule/bus

Now that's doesn't sound any impressive. if we take an average of 10 buses, we have 24 drivers, 26 conductors, 5 admin staff and only 13 schedules. its a very surprising fact that most of the schedules operated by KSTRC are less than 100 km. this exposes the efficiency at which we are operating today.

************************ Suggestions **********************************

First and foremost, Increase the operating efficiency of KSRTC. if per day work hours are 8 hrs, ensure workforce is utilized effectively. Every Driver on duty should run at least 250 km/per day. if that's the case, with 70% occupancy and around 60 paise per km, he will generate 5250 rs/day. the scheduling should be automated to ensure optimal loading of resources

Other suggestions are

1. All private buses exit road by 8 pm. they will re appear only by 5.30 am next day. KSRTC buses should utilize the over night demand throughout the state. through the artery roads in kerala, running from north to south with deviations to eastern and western towns, continuous schedules at regular intervals will definitely have enough passengers

2. KSRTC should upgrade its fleet with Volvo buses for long distance routes

3. Start regular trips to popular 365 days in demand destinations such as Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Velakani, Thirupathi, guruvayoor, mookambika, coimbatore, Goa, Munnar, thekkady, kanyakumari, airports in the state to name a few

4. Run chartered services using Volvo buses for school and college exercusions, private exercusions etc. this will be really really profitable for KSRTC

5. Start Chain services using VOLVO A/C buses in routes such as Ernakulam-kozhikode, Ernakulam-thiruvananthapuram, thiruvananthapuram to various district head quarters.

6. start night schedules in north-south & south-north directions for long distance travellers

7. run more city schedules during peak hours. this will have more returns with less expenses

8. Optimize the fleet. run periodic maintenance and procure only genuine spares directly from manufacturers at best rate. if possible,completely outsource the maintenance to 3rd party with strict SLA s in place. this will ensure maximum buses available anytime

9. start VOLVO chain service from aluva, ekm etc to smart city area during 8 am to 10 am and from evening 4pm to 8pm.  lot of people using private transport will shift to buses for sure

10. Enable e-booking and bus information in internet so that people can look for possible schedules of their choice.

11. Use Automated algorithms to schedule trips so that all resources can be best utilized. Split the state into 4 zones + 1 complete coverage zone. Allocate resources  to each zone based on demand in the zone. this allocation can change every week based on trends. For e.g., during sabarimala season, the zone in which sabarimala falls in will need more resources. this kind of division will help run resources effectively and under strict supervision norms

I hope this is a humble start. I am sure you all will have much better and novel ideas to add to this. if you take sometime to add your ideas too, I compile it and forward it to authorities.

Kerala Assembly Elections - Post Polling

Polling happened peacefully on april 13th. the polling percentage is somewhere around 75%. It was around 72.4%  in 2006. Both fronts are confident that people verdict will be in their favor. It's a long 1 month wait this time for the results to get announced. Analysis by both fronts indicate they will comfortably.

This election saw both fronts struggling with lack of genuine ideologies and political agenda. the political scenario is so volatile that no ideology remains constant. unprecedented crossovers which became "legal" with Abdullakutti's eloping with congress during last parliament elections is becoming more and more acceptable. Any disappointed leader with a community base (Please read it with stress, any disappointed leader with a community base) is a star in the other camp. somehow our political leaders think, they are the religious representatives too (and of course they proclaim in every other breath that they are secular leaders). I have to admit that CPM leadership is by and large immune to this community pressure (though they decide candidates based on such considerations).

with no socio-economic development, no people empowerment, no social betterment to talk about, Both fronts comfortably pushed the campaign to more important topics - Sexual Harassment, corruption during last 2 decades, Chief Minister's son's foreign travel, corruption at center. Surprisingly, treatment towards madani never figured anywhere. Looks like both fronts lost their interest in PDP vote bank..(Or they are sure that those votes anyway will get consolidated by SDPI??).

This campaign revealed another truth. Keralites don't have a leader to look upto. V S leads the popularity index. but what was his election propaganda as Chief Minister?? He comfortably focused on 2001 govt.s mistakes (for which he was brought to power in 2006) and some corruption and harassment issues,which are lost either in controversies or in legal battles. Not a single vice which he fought against as opposition leader got corrected in his regime. Instead he kept on unearthing issues. An Administrator should have focused on fixing issues rather than unearthing them. But his biggest strength is he is the only leader poor man in this state can look forward to. Rest all leaders have wicked wrested business interests!!! But that alone isn't a quality to be called a leader. In all other departments, he miserably failed. he did not exhibit trust in his fellow cabinet members. so instead of being the one who leads the way, he become the one who keep one pointing out mistakes..In short, very very disappointing. All other leaders in ruling coalition have more negatives than positives except for G Sudhakaran and Jose Thettayil (I am still not sure about his business links). G Sudhakaran was the most sincere minister in this government. But he has a tongue that will win him more enemies than friends. Same tongue neutralized all his good work..

Opposition should be skipped ideally. It's the most rotted place and stinks terrible. OOmmen Chandy, the opposition leader is a very popular person in his constituency. However outside a small hamlet called puthupally, he doesn't have universal recognition in kerala. Many people think he represents only the interests of southern travancore christian belt and business men in kerala. He is a major factor for rising communal drift in kerala. Inside Party, he is known for as a vengeance filled person. His christianity has helped him win confidence of high command in delhi (all congress men from kerala who has close ties with high command coincidentally happen to be christians..AK Antony, K V Thomas, OOmmen Chandy, Hibi Eden ..what a coincidence...BJP folks might be happy reading this :-) .. for them, this is no sign that I am swaying your side..hehe ). Ramesh Chennithala, with his fluency in hindi, managed to win high command's confidence too. He captialized on Karunakaran's inability to speak in Hindi, joined as his aide and then ousted him once he gained his foot inside. Ramesh will be remembered in political history as the most dishonest disciple.

Rest of the leaders in UDF who contested in this elections don't deserve any space. they are all rich men with business interests, who are using politics as the best networking tool for promoting their businesses and interests at the expenses of state. Look at the travel chart of a central minister..he would have gone to ME umpteen times. what diplomatic relationship turnarounds happened in last 2 years?? absolutely nothing except for few humanitarian gestures towards convicted. how do you justify those trips?? there is absolutely no accountability in public expenditure.(whether it's buidling a bridge or road or foreign trip)  this is the biggest curse of this country. we'll almost faint if we ask for details of american trips conducted by our state ministers in last decade to US alone. what's the reason and what's the outcome???? If we take a casual look at the wealth declaration by candidates in this elections, one thing is as obvious as day light. All regional/communal parties have fielded only rich men as candidates. for e.g. almost all candidates from IUML have more than 10 million in wealth. and they represent?? Muslims from Malappuram and kozhikode..and their plight?? Think of it.
Almost all Kerala Congress Leaders also have comparable wealth. they mostly represent farmers (landless farmers to be precise) from Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta. Their plight?? better than before due to higher prices for cash crops.

So elections are dominated by rich men, business men and others with tons of self interests. it's high time, political parties in kerala think of quality of candidates (not just their wealth and connections in delhi). People of kerala, it's high time we wake up and demand change. If Anna Hasare could bring UNION GOVT to heals, why can't we????? again, Think about it

Kerala Assembly Elections -- Part4 - Campaign

Final list of candidates who are deseperate to serve people is finalized. Candidates are running from pillar to post in bright sunny,extremely warm and dusty days to ensure they reach every nook and corner of their constituency and meet as many voters as possible. Early days the focus was on meeting individual voters. These days it has changed a bit. There are some people called "Affluent Citizens" who seem to have the power to influence a huge vote bank. It could be  any one or all of the following : the rich man of the town, the social worker, the eminent personality, the priest, the community leader, fund raiser, business men or even Goonda Leader of the area. These distinguished people seem to have direct influence on their followers and these candidates after sun set will be busy wooing these power centers. Early days I never believed in such super powers. But off late with the emphasis, respect and fear candidates have for them, I feel their powers are genuine. Also, almost all candidates whom I know want to avoid a segment of voters completely - Educated Middle Class families. One of the candidate told me in person, they are not worth our time. This class constitute the so called Swing Factor. They cannot be influenced by lip service, they listen to their community leaders but hardly obey their orders and will most likely form an opinion by themselves based on candidate's personality, burning locale issues, campaign topics etc etc. This class takes Rational Decisions and might vote across party boundaries. Also educated middle class families mostly live away from their permenant address and most likely will not travel back home to cast the vote (Unless, Unless, Unless they are pro communist).
Candidates try to woo voters in bulk.. first in terms of communal divide, second in terms of economic divide. there is huge focus at so called colonies where BPL and just above BPL families live. Almost all the sops announced in election manifesto is directly aiming these 2 segments.
Both Fronts says Development and Social welfare are their KEY topics. but take a look what makes news these days

Helicopter rides, C M's double face, DM's double face, Palmoil case, Lavlin case, P sasi, P K Kunjalikutty, Ice cream case, In party fight in Communist Party, who will be the CM if congress come to power, Corruption allegation against Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala, Idamalayar Case, R Balakrishna Pillai, sex offenses in kerala and who are the culprits behind it, VIP in kiliroor case, Sindhu Joy and her so far clandestine passion for religion and congress, Sobhana George and her 180 degree turns, who is the father of smart city, corruption by CM 's son, Man handling by CPM MLA, Man handling by CPI Minister, Land encroachments in Munnar and everywhere, are actions against such crimes fair or not, Corruption by Central Govt, Rahul Gandhi and his handpicked candidates, Marxist Party's view of sexual harassment by Prakash Karat, Disrespect towards K karunakaran's Soul by denying Assembly seat for his followers nominated by his daugher and son (that's the best logic i heard in recent times), On air drama by dejected "Service Aspirants"

Did anyone of you notice any development, progressiveness, social welfare in any of the key election topics above mentioned? if you haven't, you won't take any time to realize the hypocracy of the 2 fronts. I'm afraid, there is a so called "Syndicate" as often referred by some prominent leaders. This syndicate has representatives from all parties and other stake holders. they take terms in assuming offices and no matter who rules, this syndicate will control all wealth and distribute it fairly among stake holders. Rest everything is drama and entertainment for people.

Some of the key issues that should have stayed on top of everything should have been
Economic growth of state, Agricultural challenges, solutions and food safety, social security and welfare for all, Health for all, Industrial policy for state, how to gather wind in IT boom, Education and employment of youth, Collapse of law and order in state, Controlling and elminating various mafias running the state including sand, black money, real estate, sex, financial crimes and corruption, corruption in politics, civil service, police and judiciary and how to change it, inflation, political instability in ME, it's repecursions in kerala, ever increasing commodity prices, infrastructure development in kerala, urban development in cities, rural development in villages, power security and it's consequences, water management, dwindling forests and greencover, natural disasters and after effect management, communal harmony, terrorist roots in kerala, comprehensive development vision, transportation agonies in the state, safety for life and property in state, self sustainable groups among low income category, value added produces from natural resources, income for less previleged through applied technology based on market demands and the list can tend to infinity.

I wonder why no one, including the younger candidates who claim to be having new vision about development, is interested about these topics. Instead, we focus extremely transient, short cited, hollow issues just to create an eyewash. Visual Media is also responsible for this in a big way. they will never ever give neither attention nor air time to a leader who is genuine, subtle, gentle and politically right always. instead they look for "sensations" and "yellow valued" news.

So far in this campaign, there is no single political theme that's presented across the state. it's highly localized campaign so far catering to the pressure groups, community requests and playing it safe kind of strategizing.

I am not sure how a quality improvement program can be applied to politics. But I really feel in this era of globalization, it's very very critical for all of us to remain competitive. we are not safe within our borders. You can notice globalization creeping into our houses in various forms whether its the equipments, consumables, food habits, brands or at least in some cases even to thinking. we need a government that really understand the complexities of international politics, how to safe guard interests (and that's not just about being anti american and anti west), how to mobilize the economy of the country to face the challenges globalization put forth. how to mobilize its people to reap advantage of the umpteen opportunities globalization gifts us. for that we need educated, tech savvy visionary leaders (and don't read it as rich men with niche tastes..someone said mamootty is very forward thinking, the reason stated, he has all latest accessories ..(No intentions to state Mammootty is non progressive but want to highlight that logic is malicious) ) who posses higher standards for self integrity, who are highly sensible, sensitive and transparent. such leaders are disappearing from our political horizon..i can think of only a handful of names and that unfortunately doesn't have any young men (leaving apart couple of CPM MLA s. but you never know what happens to them. the moment their sense of judgement conflict with that of their party, they move to oblivion.) This is a highly disturbing trend. This has something do with current system of "making leaders".

It's no secret that Full time politicians and the system of full time politics is fueling corruption,favoritism and communal divide. Young men who jump into politics on idealogical frenzy soon realize that could easily be a livelihood too. Then it becomes a profession where all income go unaccounted. Most of the men get an opportunity (if at all) to bear office after couple of decades of sweating (how they sweat is a very creative topic that can be a blog by itself), hardships and economic suffering. their value system would have eroded long ago and then it's all about making hay while sun shines. Parties should (Infact marxist party is actually promoting it significantly) be reciprocative to part time politics too. If there is a part time politics machinary in place, people who are working (that's the most common case) and attach to idealogies (and that's not UNIONS!!!, again another topic to write) while they focus at work, family upbringing and financial saftety. at some juncture, few of them can go to people asking for a term to represent them, voice the concerns and fight for them. if this practice get more acceptance, then people who hold higher degree of values can easily transform to leaders without scarificing their youth for no noble cause. it will also force lot of these self employed political entrepreneurs to look for other avenues for their daily bread.  It's high time some rules come into play too.
Govt shouldn't be a monopoly of few in left and right fronts. may be after 2 terms as ministers and 4 terms as representatives, they should take forced retirement from parliamentary politics for next 2 consecutive terms. they can continue with activism. This is also serve another fundamental purpose of democracy. Opportunity for all !!!. That will also stop leaders creating lobbyist loyalist factions for personal gains.

so why not this idea of part time politics? How about a "retrogressing" clause??
To become a candidate, you should worked for 10 years in any capacity ??(be it an agricultural worker to president of a corporate). Politics as an employment option should be discouraged.

I think this time I should expect some beating. I request people who doesn't like the ideas to be harsh on me and suggest much better alternatives..I will join you

Kerala legislative assembly elections - part3

Incidentally, today is the last day for filing nominations to assembly elections. it's a warmer morning in Kochi and it looks like a clear day. I am worried about earth quake getting closer to us. this time in Burma, our immediate neighbour. While we all admire the engineering strenght of Japan in constructing quake proof buildings, we have to be worried about our state of plight. can we even afford a 2.0 quake?? I doubt. In this banana republic where rich and rulers go hand in hand, who cares about the safety of common man??
Things are getting worse in Libya, Yemen and Syria. Are those people really vying for democracy or more of a religious monarchy?? I wish they are vouching for real democracy.
Sensex made a huge rally y'day. Had I followed my instincts to buy DLF, I would have made some margin y'day. but i hardly follow my instincts. I try to be safe all the time (that's the only way a lower middle class man can think) and let go such fortunes with zero regrets. well, I am yet to learn to play this stocks game. I know the rules but I'm always on the side bench (I remember sreesanth, when i said sidebench..but his benching has various other reasons worth writing another blog).I sympathise with South Africa once again but little can be done to reverse the outcome. End of the day, it's all about rising to occasion. I will admire yuvraj singh and suresh raina for that. Else, India would have been the predecessor to South Africa in the exit route.

I did my usual stuff,straying. so back to political parties..I thought, I will write about the rest of the parties in this chapter.

CPI - the soft communists. I think they will lose their relevance soon or already lost it. Earlier, they had leaders of great charm and capacity. Achutha Menon, PKV, MN etc. Today, they are just dutiful servants of CPM. In the last assembly they had 17 MLA s whereas Congress had 24. This is when LDF had a clear upper hand. In the assembly before that when UDF had lion's share, the positions were like this CPI 7, Congress - 63. May be in another 10 years, this party will merge with CPM (?). Having said all this, I should also tell that their new secretary, C K Chandrappan is a gem among the kerala politicians.

Kerala Congress Mani - KCM - is another soft communal (not communist) party in kerala. This party grew up on 2 themes. Christian farmers (that includes planters too) and encroachments. This is the party that popularized "Pattaya Mela" .. you guys know what it is in essence?? First you say, Govt Land is state  asset. never even set your eyes on it. many of us who are scared will listen. but there there are brave men too. they don't listen. they encroach!!! and setup their boundaries on govt land!!!!!!. this could be 2 cents to 100 acres. then they keep on bribing revenue department not to take action on them. after a while, they influence panchayat office and start paying land tax for a land that's not their own. few years will pass by. then UDF will come to power..Mani gets his legacy portfolio, Revenue!! then comes a pattaya mela, in which landless people are given possession of land just enough for a house. along with that, all our bravemen get possession of the property they are holding to. Now everything is legal. you sell it..and find the next piece for grabbing. You all will remember, there was a 100 meter wide road made by encroachers inside mathi kettan national park during Antony's regime in 2001. V S brought it OUT. 100 meters road inside national park!!!! can you believe. many places our National Highway 47 is only 30 meter wide..KCM is an aggressive party. if you go to every highrange in kerala..now to make things easy, the only district without a high range could be aalapuzha..rest all districts have something that could be called highrange. let's make things more easy...you go eastward in any district in kerala. after you climb certain altitude, you will see lots of KL 05 and KL 06 vehicles. be it kasargode, kannur, malappuram, wyanad, palakkad (the northern districts of kerala), you will these vehicles. Forest areas and areas adjacent to forests in the eastern part of kerala are being taken over in a silent revolution by smart people from kottayam and idukki districts. most of them are farmers, most of them have legal land, most of them are highly genuine. but it's an organized mass movement. this movement feeds KCM. while they distance from Chruch as much as they can, ground reality is something else. Cash Crops with zero income tax liabilities make KCM a rich movement. you know what all grow in highrange other than rubber, cardamom and other spices.

BJP - Bharathiya Janata party - The Hindu Soft communals. this party is a joke in kerala where 52% people are hindus. The real problem is not the ego between (27% and 14% strong communities). The real problem is half of the hindus in kerala think beyond religion and are more inclined to political ideologies. the other half is still living in the byegone era of castiesm. they prefer a  non hindu over a hindu from another community.  That explains why BJP can't open an account in kerala. but then Congress is all determined to help them!! In recent years, many of my educated hindu friends who were followers of congress tell me, they are switching to BJP. but fortunately, many of these guys are working in other states and don't have enough passion to come to kerala and cast their vote. if they had, it would have reflected in the numbers. If CONG continue to give people an impression that they are more than happy to succumb to minority lobbying, BJP has some hope. otherwise, they might have to play the money game here. may be they will soon try it out. other problem with BJP is they aren't favorites for switching leaders. if they could manage to pull few frustrated leaders (with some base) from congress and marxist (if they are non hindus nothing like that), they can try their luck with higher probability in electoral drama.

IUML - Indian Union Muslim League. This is the most prominent party in North Kerala, especially in malappuram dist. they will contest in 12 out of 16 there. They are the soft muslim communals. Contributions of IUML to secular kerala can never be overlooked. But in these years, IUML underwent extreme transformation and got reduced to a consortium of rich muslims (business men and others) with wrested interests. their presence in Union Ministry helped many overseas stake holders protect and enhance their virtual empires. big real estate developers also felt IUML is the best place. Scandals about their top leadership also shook the party and so did young men with more staunch views on religious identity. the biggest crisis IUML might be facing is the drifting of muslim youth to parties that advocate for conversative islamic societies. PDP, SDPI and Jamat-e-islami have all taken away cadres from IUML. Recent prominent addition to IUML is another rich man who has significant influence in 2-3 constitutiencies in malappuram. he fought neck to neck with IUML for 15 years only to realize that he is a better fit there :-).

Kerala Congress B - KCB. this is another soft hindu communal party. It's chairman is a director board member of NSS and it's mostly a family affair. Only 2 MLA s are father and son and I don't think they will change it anytime by themselves. the logic is simple. Revenue to run the party is generated by father and son. If Cong and Communist Party sit together for 15 minutes and make a decision for the welfare this state, this party will cease to exist to loot the public exchequer. Though they are very weak, they get the most prominent portfolios as their family asset in UDF governments - Transport (one of the most corrupt departments in kerala). their influence in UDF leadership might also lead to some fair share of revenue here and there???. In that meeting between Cong and CPM, the following parties can be a part of history - KCB, KCJ, JSS, CMP,KCT, JDS and JDU. together they hold around 23 seats which can be liberated for direct fight between INC and CPM. Also, that will make atleast 8-10 corrupt leaders irrelevant.

KCJ - Kerala Congress Jacob, another soft christian communalist.
KCT - Kerala Congress Thomas - P C Thomas is the man who played wrong cards. from union minister who defeated both UDF and LDF, he plunged too deep. May be we'll see his comeback too. Another soft christian communalist party.

PDP - People's Democratic Party, a soft communal party(muslim). Not in so past as in past, this party almost gave a feeling that the entire muslim population in kerala is with them. that would have made them a natural candidate for atleast 40 seats in 140 seat assembly. their mercurial leader, Abdul Nassar Madani after his release from prison after being kept behind the bars for almost a decade on terrorist charges, went on a spree as a changed man aligned with democratic secularism. He caught attention of almost everyone in the state and majority believed his transformation. He decided to test political waters and LDF saw him as the apostle they were looking for to appease muslim vote banks. In the clash of muslim ideals at Ponnani where both sides forgot a sizable minority, the softer side won. but fate had something else in store for Madani. He got booked again on conspiracy charges. In a high voltage drama at his fort in kollam, where some skeptics predicted an armed conflict, he peacefully co-operated with law enforcement agencies. without Madani, PDP is a clueless herd. But they still enjoy confidence of a sizable minority among muslims. their secular notions are day dreams.

CMP and JSS - I'm afraid they themselves know what their political ideologies are? they are more like 2 private companies lead/funded by founders themselves. few board/corporations 'alloted' to them by UDF, help them breathe easy once every 5 years.

SDPI - is the prominent hard communals. they shot to fame with the "kaivettu" (severing of hand of a college professor) episode. that incident helped them terrify almost all middleclass people in kerala. I am sure they will make political milege in days to come.

Jamat-e-Islami - another hard communal (not by their actions so far but by their very idea of islamic nation). don't think they have any significant follower base.

DHRM - hard communals. they shot to fame with indiscriminate killings (Killing a stranger whom you see on road for no apparent reason) accounted to them. Kerala has sizable dalit population (~12% of total population, now that makes it around 4 million in number) and if mass consolidation happens, they are an unavoidable political force.

Rest of the parties are too small/irrelevant to discuss..

With this I conclude, this episode as well as the coverage of political parties.. Next episode onwards, i want to publish another 3 before April 13, I will focus on the civic issues in kerala.

Kerala Legislative Assembly Elections - Part2 - Political Parties..

I thought I'll dedicate a part or two for the prime players in this whole thing, political parties. Off late, Kerala is witnessing both birth of new ideologies at regular intervals and merger of erstwhile opponents. "There are no permanent opponents in Politics" is the most famous quote from one of those 'single hero' parties. Let's start analyzing the major parties in the order of their strength.

Before that, some background facts!!

I feel there are only 3 major socialist-secular-nationalist parties in Kerala- CPM (communist party of India, Marxist), INC(Indian National Congress) and CPI (Communist Part of India).  of the 3, CPM's nationalist outlook is still vague. I think they feel more associated with China & Cuba than with Karnataka & Gujarat.
The minor socialist-secular-nationalists are the the old Janata Party followers (i lost count of their factions in kerala, I think 3-4 is a decent guess).
JSS (Janathipathya sahakarana Sangham), followers of K R Gouriyamma, the legendary ex-communist.
CMP (Communist Marxist Party), followers of M V Raghavan, another mercurial ex-communist

Rest of parties in Kerala are Communal by nature (Communal and fascist are 2 words with entirely different meanings but in Kerala these 2 terms are used as synonyms in loose terms). They could be divided into Soft and Hard Communal parties..

Soft Communals are  - IUML (Indian Union Muslim League), KCM (Kerala Congress Mani), BJP (Bharathiya Janatha Party - now this is going to irk quite a few guys. but I still believe BJP is by and large a soft communal party. some leaders are exceptions ), KCB (Kerala Congress Balakrishna Pillai - I termed this party as communal because, Balakrishna Pillai recently commented that the support from his community is more valuable for him than anything else and that community isn't his voters but NSS).

Hard Communals are - SDPI (Socialist Democratic Party of India), PDP (People's Democratic Party) and DHRM (Dalit Human Rights Movement).

Demographic distribution of Kerala indicate that around 70% of people are from backward communities. (I included whole of muslim population, latin catholics, ezhava community and all other communities classified as backward. Since Creamy Layer isn't strictly enforced and income certificate of your choice is the most easily "procurable govt authorization", I think this is a reasonable hypothesis).  if you exclude the 10% from this pie as not eligible for assistance on financial ground/ not applying for assistance on ethical ground, 60% is relying on assistance from government in one form or another. That's a significant chunk and that could explain why sometimes govt comes up with favoring policies. end of the day, it's all about vote bank politics.

Of all the parties mentioned above, CPM is the most popular party in kerala. Until very recently, CPM was focusing on the 70% of chunk (backward classes) for their electoral wins. it was considered the only choice for Marginalized, oppressed, poor and needy. To a greater extent, this claim stands true since early communist governments did a lot to assist the needy. even now, CPM insists it's cadres to ensure all govt. benefits are reaching everyone in a religious manner. Also, it conducts periodic check on what schemes can be applied to it's supporters and ensure all social welfare schemes are predominantly benefitting it's supporters first !! . What I personally don't like about this periodic check are 2 things. 1. if they someone not loyal to them is getting benefits, they make an honest attempt to stop it (to apply some pressure to switch sides) 2. if possible, remove that family from the voter's list itself so that they aren't a menance any more. (((Lots of wonders can happen if you can manipulate the voter's list a bit. the whole concept of voter's list via Ward itself is ridiculous. there should be a single voter's list for a state. that will help to avoid multiple voting, the most common phenomenon in kerala. Also, ink isn't a good way to prevent multiple voting. I wish Aadhar or UID will stop multi voting. not that it will free up democracy of all the evils but just one less.  ))))
if you  analyze the supporters of CPM, few interesting aspects will stand tall. Most of the CPM supporters, will be direct beneficiaries of govt. some broad classifications include either a Civil Services Employee, or a co operative sector worker, beneficiaries of govt schemes, employee in one of those corporation/boards, or beneficiary of support in various forms including reservations. Police force, Numerous Boards, Corporations, Co-operative societies, Govt Supported firms, almost all temporary employement positions with govt are the monopoly of CPM supporters.

In last decade, CPM management ( I prefer to call CPM a corporate rather than a party) woke up to the realities of neo liberalism that's catching up in this country. it took no time for them to add another class to their umbrella of followers; a class which it vehmently fightly until then - Affluent Business Class in Kerala and Middle East!! . Business men embraced the welcome even more warmer since it'll protect their interests,assets and made powerful party's leadership their dinner buddies. "Investors are looking for profits" - proclaimed our industries minister !!. Many other leaders were busy issuing conduct certificates to prominent business icons whose trails are not as transparent as it should have been. this transformation is very clear if you look at grass root levels. who was a  communist leader, 20 years back?? A school teacher, A manual labourer, A union activist, a blue collar worker? utmost an academician?? and who are they seen with?? - almost always the common man.
who is a communist leader now?? A real estate business man? Misc Business Man? Rich man of the province? Enterpreneur?  who are they seen with?? - Business class  and affluent friends invariably.
Today, in party rifts (which are unprecedented in its history) is taking it's toll on the party's popularity. Common man is in dilemma. however the reality is he cannot change his loyality to any better place.

INC is the second popular party in kerala after CPM. The current plight of congress in kerala is pitiable despite the way UPA is treating it. 2 cabinet Ministers, 1 MoS with independent charge, 2 MoS. Kerala never got rewarded this way ever. however, the situation of congress in kerala can be best compared to an inverted pyramid in corporate analogy. it broke apart few times in history due to over crowding of top with "Leaders". Today, this party has more leaders than workers. In many districts, it has even out sourced politics to it's allies in UDF and have no party infrastructure in place. The only reason, Congress is still prominent in kerala is due to UDF. the smaller parties in their ever increasing desire for power (Power is exponentially proportional to Wealth), pushes Congress to power at regular intervals. I think some of the parties have started realizing, Congress is more of a co-ordinator than a real leader in terms of "number of acutual workers".  However a significant chunk of neutral people in state get fed up with communist governments in just one term and "force" congress to be in power once in every decade. Congress, with it's characteristic humbleness accepts the "burden". If CPM leadership of this state is any humble, imaginative and less arrogant, this state would have been a West Bengal much before. While Communists can be best explained by the slogan, "Party First, People Next", Congress fits the best for the slogan "Wealth Only and Always". Few leaders have made Congress their family affair and through the best explained term of "Groupism", they ensured any popular leader outside their "Syndicate" has no survival. (best e.g. is V M Sudheeran, the most popular congress leader among public but not within the party). INC was traditionally supported by majority of so called minorities (they form 48% total population). but off late, KCM, IUML, SDPI, PDP and almost every other party made inroads to this vote bank. Congress, with it's lethargic and sagging heavy weight top leadership who is hanging onto their chairs as much as they can lost the vigor and trust of common man. Allies of UDF started getting stronger at the expense of congress and got greedier than ever. In every govt and even in center, they started asking for lion's share and key portfolios. Series of allegations involving allies left congress at the receiving end since the vote banks of allies are not based on political ideologies. So everytime something went wrong, congress took the beating and it kept weakening congress. Today, Congress is literally at the mercy of it's allies. Top Congress Leaders seem to have got into silent pacts with the allies and hence their interests are protected by and large. Net Result : Congress is losing it's infrastructure, young followers and mechanism to reach people at a faster pace. Not so far in future, Congress in kerala will have to deal with the same fate party underwent in UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Orissa.

Kerala legislative assembly elections -2011-part1 - Overview..

With another fresh bout around the corner, i thought it's worth starting a blog series on the same. My intention is not to spread my ideology as far as i can but to speak loud about few simple thoughts that's lingering (may in your mind too) for a while, which i feel is overlooked by almost all of us. a typical election blog will focus heavily around political parties, leaders, strategies and incumbency factors and tend to forget the most important constituent of electoral process, the electoral roll and it's mind. Yes, a list with a mind!!!!.

a word or 2 about me!!!

 I have strong political inclinations, views and preferences but I haven't become another blind, deaf (i beg mercy of my unfortunate siblings who are actually differently abled. i used those two words in literal sense ONLY) follower of ideologies and have become of a prisoner of the same. To make it more easy, I might represent that ironical class of voters who would have voted for a Congress Candidate in local body elections, Communist Candidate in Assembly elections and a Muslim League candidate in Parliament elections. and many times it could be a 'frustration vote' rather than a positive one. I think such voters form the 'crucial' factor in any elections.  my opinions are my own views and i will honesty attempt not to hurt anyone else's views while expressing mine. there will not be any explicit reference to any leader (good or bad) but there will be explicit references to events that have occurred in the past. With that let me start..

 Overview !!!

I prefer to take a rationale stand on us. I feel we have a general tendency to discard data and embrace gut feelings. I managed to get some information on our demographic distribution and thought of starting with that.

we, keralites are an ethnic community of  32 million. of that, around 65 percent can vote (~21 million). Broadly classified based on religion we comprise of 52 % Hindus, 27% muslims and 21% x'ians. 65% of us work in service industries and around 28% of us work in agriculture related industries. Our Per Capita income is around 37,000 INR. this figure, clearly endorse a fact, as clear as broad day light. our economic disparity is beyond imagination. all our socialistic notions are farce!!! ours is a 'Money Order' economy thriving on overseas remittance. this has it's own social consequences the most visible being the real estate prices.

 Around ~16.5 million  of our population are females but their participation in income generation is very very low. Only 13.5% participate in earning and that's lowest in this country. isn't it strange??

Good Things 

High literacy rate, low infant mortality, better life span, low birth rate, access to primary education and health care, reasonable public distribution network, high awareness among the poor about social welfare schemes, sense of responsibility among political parties (especially leftists) to ensure people get benefits from social welfare schemes. ever expanding retail markets providing more and more employment at service sector, better communication infrastructure that makes it a great place for human power based industries such as IT, ITES, and education. Better connectivity with other parts of the country and world opens up opportunities in tourism, freight handling and healthcare sector.

Bad Things

Unhealthy political activism used as a cover to escape any productivity improvement measures, lack of infrastructure, poor town planning, lack of development vision, highly corrupt bureaucracy, black money powered economy, no focus on agriculture, no focus on manufacturing, no steps to curb exploitation of state's natural resources, rules that permit easy plundering of state's natural resources, Poor Quality of education, health care, Lack of experience and knowledge among law makers. Lack of development policies based on realities and not on political stunts. 

Burning Issues

Ever increasing inflation, ever increasing oil price, ever increasing commodity price, ever increasing economic disparity, ever increasing black money in system, ever increasing corruption, collapse of law and order, highly corrupt police, judicial system and executive, growing influence of communal forces, deepening division of people based on religion, food security, political instability in middle east that could affect around 3 million keralites directly and its repercussions could be devastating (our Govt is yet to think of a rehabilitation strategy for returning expats), 'development' lobbying to loot state's icons and natural resources (man groves, mineral sand etc)

Above mentioned just indicate the 'state' we are at present. Most people will find more issues that are more relevant to them in addition to these.  with this, let's also try to analyze the two groups involved this process

and their list of concerns..

Voters

I live in this state itself. let me explain things from my perspective and then generalize and extend it to masses. For me the critical concerns are 

1. Living expenses - is beyond our tolerance. state govt. comfortably pass the blame to center.

2. Social Security - if you ever get into an unfortunate incident involving damage/loss of property, accident etc you'll see the true color of Kerala Police. The nexus between law makers and law breakers can't be more evident than this. Police blame it on politicizing of police. but in essence it's the corruption that this force has gone through. Terrorism hasn't yet shown it's true colors in this state. All of us know it's getting stronger and stronger silently but I don't think Govt has any concerns about that. Even Terrorism is looked upon as an opportunity to create vote banks (For and Against it).

3. Corruption - This state might belittle Bihar in this. Uniqueness of kerala's corruption is it's ubiquitousness. almost everyone is either a beneficiary or victim of it. all of us have some access to power and we have no reservations about abusing it to our benefits. govt need to be more transparent and responsible in it's policy implementations and day to day affairs. politicizing day to day activities isn't what democracy demands.

4. Lack of development which directly means lack of opportunities - This state isn't looking forward in terms of opportunity creation. most of the people still believe it's govt's responsibility to create jobs. Investors are looked upon as "wicked profit oriented morons" whereas worker is looked upon as the "crusader of equality, liberty and fraternity". He is devoid of vices whereas investor is devoid of any virtue. Socialism is all about wealth distribution and not opportunity creation here. Is any wealth distributed? all noble investors who are willing to pay taxes and bring white money are shunned off by dark forces using "worker protests" as the best effective cover. the only businesses that seem to be thriving in kerala  are real estate (100% black), Gold(I don't know), hawala (100% black) and financial fraud of almost any degree (from few thousands to crores).

5. Civil Rights - Here organized forces overrun the civil rights of ordinary unorganized weak citizens. whether it's loud noise from a messy neighbor or right to travel violated by a political/religious procession on the National Highway we have no one to complain to. 

I guess you all will have more to add. I just provided an indicative list that could represent our flaring issues. 

Now let's focus on the most esteemed, privileged, powerful class in kerala : Political Leaders. 

While Cinestars enjoy all popularity and media coverage, the real superstars in kerala are a bunch of politicians who are holding onto power for decades all together, defending their crowns in the most fierce of bloodless battle every day. and the wealth amassed??? beyond our wildest of imaginations. take most leaders who are in active politics for last 30 years.. what was their full time jobs? politics. Income - the salaries and incentives they got while holding an office. But wealth amassed will have no co-relation to their earnings. they also make a mockery of the income declaration statements Election Commission ask for. I think if this system is changed, there would be radical reforms. 

Why not Candidature is limited only to people who are given clean chit (if not clean chit, very explicit beyond suspicion proofs on why no clean chit) by income tax department ????  any one want to contest, keep their records clean from the age of 18. any hint of unaccounted wealth, leaves you out. and then the IT department get smart and plug all possible holes in the sieve!!!

Politicians have taken politics as a family run business. With all the wealth garnered, they "generate" followers, popularity and favorable decisions. once they feel they are ageing they bring their kids. they do as much as possible to ensure the 'power' doesn't get distributed among lot of people. they run invisible 'power mafias' that run across political affiliations. they do their best to keep as many people as possible away from elections by frustrating them, giving them no hope. they all collectively strive to prevent any new faces appearing from respective parties. in short, they feel 'entitled' to power and wish to maintain it as their 'exclusivity'. this is more   evident in all parties except CPM. CPM and may be CPI had a change in leadership from time to time. no one grew beyond their parties. But in all other parties, few men have monopolized it for few decades. the saddest fact - all those leaders came up by themselves but once they reached the top instead of making the upward journey smoother for people after them, they just closed those pathways forever to ensure power remains within "their" elite group. They also know people have no option but to choose either them or their so called opponent who are actually their cousins and some cases even partners (in loose terms). so from a politician's stand point, he will look at 

1. whether the communal equations can be converted in his favor?

2. whether the anti incumbency factor can be converted in his favor?

3. whether the opponents' past actions can be converted in his favor?

4. whether the local situations be converted in his favor?

5. whether his noise\clout\money (organized noise) can help him out?

so with this summary, I conclude this curtain raiser. All of you are most welcome to add your share of suggestions into this. Disagreements are more welcome!!! however at this point, let's not get split based on our political inclinations. let's disagree on facts and figures. Also let's not get too much into our wish lists. I will unveil them soon :-).

Experiences..

While i return to this space after a long break (again ONLY due to my laziness), I thought I'll post a short one..

My A/C is faulty since few days. I call a mechanic and he said he'll come on thursday evening 5pm..I leave office early and wait for him. He never turned up..I call him again, he said he'll come on saturday morning..I call him today morning, he says I'll come before evening. I request him to tell a 1 hr window so that I can be home that time and take care of other work too. he ask me a big question "what's important for you?? A/C or other work??"..and then says, I cannot come at your wish, I'll come whenever I feel. if you are not fine with that, please look for some other mechanic who listen to you..after all I never called you, you called me.." Before I could frame a diplomatic answer, he told me, let me know your decision in next 10 minutes and disconnected.." who told Capitalism is not in favor of BLUE COLLAR Class?? at least in service industry, it's that way.


Anti Climax :

I call the guy, who sold this A/C to me. he says, someone will contact you in next 48 hours!!
A/C mechanic is far better. i had been calling "few" plumbers for last 2 months..all of them tell me, we are busy..Kochi has a dearth of plumbers..I am thinking of learning the art as a hobby..I am sure, my weekends will be busier than my work week .. hehehe..

Monsoon, Messi, Madani and Me..

Almost every blog of mine has the same 'cliche' opener..'i have been away for long'..while its absolutely true that i weren't around, I am ashamed to use that sentence anymore. Let me be a bit more self dignified than yesterday. After I wrote about Sreesanth and Prithviraj in my last 2 blogs, I got an opportunity to talk to them in person. While Prithviraj doesn't want to give his phone number(well he gives the number with a clause that he will not be available to talk on that number anytime :-) :-). how sweet is that?? ), Sreesanth totally surprised me with his simplicity. After I spoke to him, I can't still believe that he is the same boy who is reaping hatred from all around. while I don't think he is 'the bad boy' in the country, I came across many people who wish to think so. so unfortunate ..and so unfortunate again. I wish to meet Sasi Tharoor (The Mallu rockstar making headlines allaround) and Shyamaprasad (Malayalam movie maker whom I am following since his 'Maranam Durbalam' (offlate he disappoints in a big way) some time soon.



Back to this episode of blogging..(I have this habit of straying away from what I really want to convey..you would have got it by now that I am an empty head and doesn't really know what to convey..So please pardon me on that front.)



Monsoon!!!! 'The Nostalgia of malayalee after 'Lovv' (and may be politics..but offlate, I feel most of the malayalees are moving away from politics to Real Estate. I can't ignore the fact that every other conversation leads to a 'Plot bought/for sale/wish to buy/or made someone rich overnight'. A huge wave of frustration is sweeping through the guys who couldn't get hold of a property so far ( Well, You may read that last statement as a reflective one too :-) ).
Monsoon is beautiful sometime...incessant rains finally bringing back that 'chill' which keralites are almost tending to forget. last 2 years, I felt that 'chill' on a rainy night or morning is not possible without the help of air conditioner..but June mid week proved me wrong (while june may be proving me wrong for the first time, I am pretty used to that :-) ..thanks to my judgement skills and so called 'intutions') ..That 'chill' that made our childhood so special is back.. Serenity rains can offer cannot be matched by anything i guess. while the view from my apartment balconies is no impressive by any standards (Thanks to 'Urbanization'), view from my office is grand!!! I couldn't get home during rains due to some inevitable travel here and there. I managed to go for couple of drives in heavy rain and the charm is still around. Few places I wish to visit during this monsoon are
1. Munnar (I feel it would be amazing to watch rains from the sitout of that ghost guest house which hosted me last december on the edge of cliff surrounded by a sea of tea sprouts!!),
2. a ride in the house boat through the inland canals of aalapuzha,
3. a cliff on ezhimala hills,
4. the boundary walls of bekal fort and
5. the paddy fields of my home town.

while monsoon is a great 'feeling', the 'other' side is an extreme one too. it's very difficult time for people who live in kerala and most importantly use public transport and walking as the medium of commutation. Our governments irrespective of left of right, are very keen to be on common man's side. all the governments in kerala so far were idealogically pro prolitarian. however in their urge to protect the rights of the so called 'common man', they forgot to provide the bare minimum neccessities for them. No a single town in kerala have any concern for common man who walks to places. No Footpaths, No drainage system and No working street lamps in is the story in any town. to add to the woes, open man holes and drainages can give heart aches to parents who are waiting for their kids to return home from school. Let's not even talk about the plight of our drinking water sources and the distribution systems during monsoon. when will our governments wake up and react to these neccesities before giving us lectures on american atrocities in iraq, afganistan and advocating against 'Colonial' forces acting against our 'socialist-equality oriented' societies.

Messi...

Messi has no idea about his popularity in the northern districts of kerala.forget that. does he even know there is a county named 'India'?? Our youth finds an excellent opportunity in world cup to celebrate and polarize. I was surprised by the flexboards on both sides of the road when I travelled from ernakulam to kannur recently. almost every competing country has fans in our state..that too crazy die hard fans (who tend to hooliganism as well..there are reports of argentine fans locking horns with brazil fans in perintalmanna :-) :-) ). In a country where law and order is just a dream, these incidents aren't adding to our pains any ways.). World cup often brings back childhood memories for me. Spain-Denmark match in 1986 Mexico World cup is the first thing that I ever saw in a television. I used to go to a nearby house to watch the matches along with friends. we used to sit in their drawing room floor and watch the match, while the household continued with their chores. can you imagine knocking a home's door and asking "can we see the match?" and then sitting there for next 2 hours with absolutely no interaction with that family?? ( I had to wait till 1994 to watch Television in my own house.) After Marriage, I took Nidhi to the gate of that house to show her the place where I had my frist experience with television. Television had a special place in my heart always due to the sheer fact that we never had a television at home. I used to listen to my friends at school about various things that could be seen in a TV. My mother wasn't very fond of the idea that I go and watch TV at other houses as she felt its a disturbance for them. I was all filled with pride when I bought the LCD TV (Well, my company paid for it :-) ) for my home.

Back to Messi !!!

Though I have read a lot about this wonder kid in contemporary soccer world, I am seeing Messi playing for the first time. He is amazing by all means. the way he places the ball for his strikers is as though he is placing it in a platter for them (In thrissur, there is a coloquial phrase called 'thalika pass' which effectively means an effortless opportunity presented to score).

Madani -- Yes I am talking about our own Abdul Nassar Madani. Madani is media's darling ever since he was acquitted from the previous charges of framing plots against the nation. All political parties in kerala competed to claim the credit for his acquittal (It prompts thoughts about whether Judiciary could be influenced by political parties). He was even given a grand reception at state capital which even ministers attended. All to cash in the so called 'muslim votes'. He was projected as the apostle of kerala muslims and there were even plans to launch him as a candidate for parliament from a muslim strong hold. however things didn't go well in the elections. But later series of allegations and new reports casted a cloud of suspicion around this iconic figure raising doubts about his claims of being a 'reformed man'. It's very important that government and courts take a clear stand on this topic. Keeping him in that suspected state for a very long time isn't going to benefit our state in anyway. it will only give another unique opportunity for the anti national forces to claim that their claims about anti minority persecution by govt is a reality.Attempts by political parties to reap benefits from muslim unrest over madani is the most dangerous thing that can happen in a democratic setup. it's high time, political parties refrain from this mass community appeasing measures. such activities have already generated enough contempt to ruin this nation's march towards a secure tomorrow. I wish the judicial system in this country will take up such 'sensitive' issues with adequate 'diligence' and bolster common man's faith in judiciary. otherwise common man might get misguided by the judgements passed by media without any background. it already happened many times recently

Me..

I am on a travel to east and is at Seoul, South Korea. My new role in the company is giving me opportunities to travel and i am happy about it. I want to write more often than today but isn't able to get that 'urge' to write. daily routines in kochi aren't any hectic or time consuming. But every transaction back home is highly 'energy consuming' due to bad infrastructure associated challenges. I am left with almost zero energy by the time I get back home. Weekends are more hetic than weekdays with something or the other. In short, though I am not doing anything significant, i am not able to find time to scribble a few lines. I literally 'dive' to my bed once i am home and is asleep in no time. I plan to be more active in this little space of mine sharing my views on things that 'sensitize' me. while I try my best to remain non judgemental, I fail to do so all the time. whatever judgements I pass in this space are purely emotional and personal. Please don't them take them into account anytime.

Sreesanth -- The Mallu Tragedy

I have been thinking of writing about my most favorite cricketer for a very long time. it never happened. Today I am determined to write about him, before he delivers his first ball after returning to international cricket after a real long break.
More than anything else, the best definition for Sreesanth is "The epitome for disaster"
In a country of a billion+ where a national cricketer is almost a demi god, this boy is the only exception..he is the only devil or the imp :-) among them. He is the only celebrity in kerala who is greeted by booing during public appearances. Keralites in general are very possessive about their "stars". we even try to make claims on anyone who could some way be associated with kerala. but he is our very own boy but that doesn't stop keralites from reserving their filthiest remarks for him.
now tell me, what should we call this situation???
Sreesanth could be the most known keralite outside kerala. Legends like PT Usha can only envy and whine about it. He rose to fame in almost no time; for a while, he was the only indian pacer with a brain. then came that famous booty dance against andrew nell and that match winning spell. his capacity to get the best of the contemporary batsmen won him all accolades and for a short while he was looked upon as the spear head and future of indian pace department. then our boy decided to take things in his own way, which apparently wasn't the best way.

I am still his big fan any way. his capacity to beat a batsmen can only be envied by other indian bowlers. But I am sure that the previous sentence of mine is going to invite trouble for myself.I don't see many supporting me on that.

I wish sreesanth will use his commonsense this time and capitalize this last opportunity. I wish people who enjoy personal access to this boy have adviced him enough to make him cautious,may be aware, of the real situation. People are just dying for his blood. Forget fans, he might be the only indian cricketer in our history who hardly has any supporters. even the most tainted of indian cricketers (Mohd.Azharudin is the first name that's coming into mind. but he is a wrong example), may be manoj prabhakar, enjoys better fan following than him. However in terms of accumulated hatred, he could be the richest in India (forget cricket,even otherwise there are good chances). I wish he will wake up to these realities and will not disappoint a near to extinct species (supporters of sreesanth of which I am a member). He has all the talent to erase all that past. however he doesn't seem to get things right. latest spat with an insignificant off beat mumbai player is an example of he falling prey to trecherous conspiracies to force curtains on his still promising cricketing career.

Sree..wake up and act sensibly. We believe in you but you are so adamant that you won't give us even a slightest opportunity to feel proud of you. that hurts!!!
I wish it won't be too late when you realise the truth..few games can change every thing in our country!! and that's all you need. few good games and few great deliveries (with result of course:-)) ..Concentrate on your primary responsibility and give a break to your tantrums, bollywood girl friends and cinema ambitions..Malayalam celluloid is too crowded for another super star. its better if you stay on cricket field for another few years..

Prithviraj : A super star in the making

Today as usual is a rainy day!!!!
By now, I realize that I most of my creative writings have happened on rainy days. I am thinking of moving to place like chirapunji so that I can write more frequently :-). Its an unusual winter here in canada. No one here remembers a November, as warm as the ongoing one. most of the days are pleasant and sunny with occasional showers. Today is a bit different. throughout the day, it rained and towards the evening it turned foggy. It looks like a very cold day but it isn't all that cold. I was thinking of 2 posts about Sreesanth and Shashi Tharoor : 2 malayalees who are known outside kerala,mostly for their antics these days. Both of them have striking similarity : extremely good what they do;but have an inborn talent to make enemies (Believe me, they are like machines that generate thousands of enemies overnight) for no apparent reasons. However when I sat down to write, something else came up in my mind.



These days, I use a 3G phone. while returning home from work, I test it for streaming experience while on move. To make it interesting enough to continue that habit, I watch malayalam movie clips only. The very first clip I watched was not a random one but I picked it for various reasons. I know only 2 people in malayalam movie industry whom I can call friends. Devanand and Naren. Devanand is a playback singer who has sang beautiful melodies and Naren is an upcoming,promising actor. I chose a movie in which both of them worked together -- Class Mates. I started off with devan's song in that movie : Kaathirunna Pennalle... a Lovely Song.

Prithvi raj and Kavya madhavan acted on screen. (I still feel sorry for her sad episode. Like most of the average malayalee boys, I am is not able to understand how can a guy let go a girl like kavya. Though I have never seen this girl anytime in my life, like most of the malayalees ,I firmly believe she is a very nice,"homely" (That's the key word) girl next door. After all, Life is all about beliefs -- rational and irrational)

Prithviraj has an amazing screen presence. I really loved watching him onscreen till "Puthiya Mugham". I was his fan till puthiya mugham. Puthiya Mugham, the biggest box office hit of 2009 (may be now pazhassi raja took over that position) is a disaster according to me (who am I?? some one who PAYS to watch movies. some one who gets a tickets STANDING IN QUEUE...in short the average film lover who hasn't yet taken it as a passion and who watches a movie only once ). While I have 101 arguments about why puthiya mugham is a total mishap, kerala doesn't think with me in that topic. so let's leave it behind.

Back to Prithviraj !!!

This guy is the new hope of malayalam celluloid.for all those who are bored with the czars, this man is a refreshing difference. Atleast he is young to play romance (sad truth is thats the most weakest link in his acting) contrary to the sexagenerians who are even willing to act as college boys these days ( a role which never went to them, when they started off their career in 80's : and that's just a 30 years ago). I remember seeing mamootty acting a father of 1 or 2 kids those days; a role in which I don't see him these days. while I admire the czars for their acting depth, I pity them for the kind of roles they take up.

Back to Prithviraj!!!

Prithviraj, the younger son of yesteryear young turk on screen, made his debut in 2002 (or o1). acted in about 50+ movies in last 7 years. That's an amazing career. almost 7+ movies an year. which means he hardly had time for anything apart from acting ever since he made his mind. He never had any significant box office success after nandanam (the very first one). but he sailed through the toothing years without much damage (infact in an impressive manner). Things started changing dramatically since 2006. that's when he played the lead role in Class Mates. While he had not much to his credit in the phenomenal success of that movie, it's he who made the most out of that flick. ever since classmates he never looked back. chocolate was his first solo hit. Its an average movie with absolutely nothing to talk about, but it made to the hit charts (Some people call it TIME in kerala).

His commitment to work has been remarkable in these years. it demands more respect when we consider the very fact that he is just into his mid twenties. at such an young age, he never got carried away by the fame and money and looks like he is not a W&W boy so far. In these years, he definitely has made lots of good friends in malayalam media. The kind of coverage he gets testifies that (it also testifies his popularity among the malayalee youth). I always felt he has the backing of an invisible PR organisation that's doing a good job so far. With not many successes to his credit, he could successfully create a notion among keralites (Including me ) that is going to be the next super star. The shoes of the upset angry young man and of the cool romantic hero (rich and upper middle class only) seem to be perfect fit for him. His screen presence is awesome and so is his action (As in action).

I have watched almost all his movies to realize just one thing. you just see prithvi raj in those movies. No matter what's the role, its all prithviraj on screen. That's were Czars are still significant.Pazhassi raja,chanthu, ponthan mada, bhaksara pateler,arayan in amaram, the kathakali artist in vana prastham, the rich spoiled young man in dasaratham, sethumadhavan, the artist in sadayam, joji and the rough man in thaazhvaram are some of the stellar characters malayala cinema remembers. Our boy doesn't have any such characters to his credit. its all prithviraj so far in different costumes. same styles, smile, anger, walk and gestures!!!. its something like we going to work everyday in different clothes.

Future looks very promising for Prithviraj. He is on his way to the undisputed throne of the prince of malayalam cinema after the emperors retire. No other young actors look promising at this juncture. Its very surprising that there are only very few young actors (potential heros) in malayalam as of now
Jaya suriya is leading the race for the second post ( I guess there isn't any race infact). Indrajit has proved that he isn't fit for a solo hero but is an excellent actor in any other position.
Anup Menon is an amazing actor. He has shown glimpses of talent whenever he could but he isn't getting breaks for some reason. Naren looks (Or Looked???) very promising as an actor. But I don't know why he isn't seen on mallu screens so often. Every time he makes a mark, he kind of disappears. I heard him saying he is concentrating on tamil movies in a recent interview. but no tamil movie of his hasn't come out in last 2o months or so. He has tremendous potential but seem to be ruining his career by wrong decisions (or indecisiveness) so far. If he changes his mind, he will soon catch up with Jayasuriya. All other young heros appearing are like comets. they don't give a feeling that they are going to stay. The Hrithu boy, Nishan was a good change. But will malayalam adore a non malayalee hero??? I have my own doubts :-) :-).

To wrap up, Prithviraj is making it BIG !! Luck, professionalism and excellent publicity tactics is giving him the much wanted thrust and he is on his way to stardom..Let's wish him the very best. At the same time, Let's hope to see some good movies from him. While his movies are interesting and bearable so far, his interviews are not. I don't know why every malayalam actor is trying hard (desperate is more apt) to sound like a philospher genius who lost his ways in the of labyrinth of life, and some how ended up in acting and is just hanging out there for fun (you know just for the sake of it) but is more inclined and engrossed in higher aspects of life and philosphical thinking. This boy was last seen attempting to share his GK on kerala politics and cricket. its more soothing to hear him talking about cinema. ( It prompted me to remember Saroj Kumar :-) )

Deepavali in Toronto..

Believe me, I celebrated the first deepavali in my life here in Toronto.Thanks a zillion to Amma and Girija Aunty who made it possible and I really enjoyed every moment of it. it all started with Amma's email to her thick friend of yesterday's who lives here in Toronto. Aunty called me immediately and told me come home. it was a very warm welcome at their sweet home in the suburbs of torronto. I happened to met her family too. we indulged in usual discussions of India, her head aches and challenges and future. it was a wonderful dinner and after that was the biggest event.."Bursting Crackers" .. I am so fond of crackers and the last time I got an opportunity was around 6 years back for a vishu..since then, I am out of country during Vishu days. My last vishu was a very uneventful one since I was stuck in Bangalore for some reasons I can't even remember now..I never knew we could burst crackers in Canada. In USA it required special permit or so in california. we went to an open ground (well we walked in almost 0 degree cold) and fired up few rockets as well. that was hilarious!!!!

I remember me and vinod getting an adrenaline rush because of cracker going off all around us in bangalore during a deepavali night. we got charged up and went to a cracker shop run by indian airforce society, stood in queue for a while and bought only those things which makes huge noise and bursted them all our neighbours ran out of their ammunition..

Surprises doesn't stop there.. I got my first Deepavali gift ever..and it was so sweet of Girija aunty and family to give us (infact they had a gift for Nidhi too) one. they made that day so warm and nice for me..I was at loss of words to express myself and I infact had to tell them I am a big failure in expressing soft emotions :-) :-).

Later I called up Naren and we spoke for a while. I am really really happy to see him prospering as an actor in both Malayalam and Tamil. He is a very promising and talented guy and people are slowly discovering it themselves. his role in recent commercial success,"robinhood" is definitely bringing him appreciation and limelight. he is already a heart throbe of quite a few (Manju : I hope you don't have issues there :-) :-) ). I wish to see him as one of the lead actors in both malayalam and tamil. may his movies make it BIG.

when I return ....

I was away for 2.5 years. it's a long break. i wasn't doing anything great during these days that i didn't find time to come over. i was lost. i was lost in the drifting currents of destiny. i just wandered, with no intention of finding shore. i just wanted to go with it. 5 minutes before, I didn't even dream of updating this blog today. in my apartment in bangalore( well i changed my country of residence last year), i was happy spending another sunday in silence..i was watching a movie.. a movie shot at munnar, where i wish i could go sometime during rains..the shots were hilarious and for no reason i became restless..AND..and it started raining outside.. my apartment has a glass door towards balcony and from the balcony, you will see an ocean of houses,mostly small ones, beyond the houses,stand the huge buildings on outer ring road, and beyond them is the green horizon..in the nights, i spend time watching the traffic on outer ring road.. i just stepped onto my balcony to see the rain..and i suddenly remembered my blog. in less than a second, i got restless again..and i felt i should visit my blog. i think my love for it got re kindled. Rekindled love is an interesting topic i guess...well i rarely had such experiences..and most of them are too trivial to state here..while i wrote so far, the light outside has completely faded, and it looks like a monsoon evening outside..sitting on sofa, with my laptop on my lap, i can see the bubbles of rain getting busted on my balcony, a 100 of them every moment. some lucky ones are floating around,waiting for their turn to get busted... (how short is their life span) ...and i am filled with that unique monsoon despair..i wish, i was home..I am lucky these days, my home is just 355 kms away (i drove last week to my home and found the distance), another 8 hrs can take me there.. rain is getting harder and is accompanied by thunders..i remember an old rainy day..me and jyothi chechi used to look at the flashes through the only chillodu on the roof (chillodu is the roof tile, with glass embedded so that light can get into the house..) whenever thunder storms came, we counted the number of lightenings. now i remember another thing..i didn't take the clothes which i had put for drying from the balcony..now i know why present always pricks and past always soothes :-) :-) (not for all,but for many)..

what do I write about? This question always puzzles me. I feel my creativity is almost dead.I cannot think about anything beyond a superficial degree. when I try to put them together, my thoughts ran away. I always lost chasing them. well not anymore..these days, I just watch them disappear like a bubble. suddenly I feel i have lots to write about. Politics, Life, cinema, elections, civic concerns, career,trips, business plans ( that's my hobby these days..discussing business plans..my wife doesn't care about them, so I don't bother her :-) :-). Me and Vinod (I call him uncle instead), can spend hours together discussing plans and ideas.)..All on a sudden, I can't stand the pressure of my topics.. I was waiting for this day to come ever since 2006. The rain bubbles outside have grown up. the rythm has changed too. its like the sound of "necklace crackers" (This word is patented by me. Necklace crackers are called mala padakkam in kerala..they are tiny crackers,may be a 100 of them, tied together. once caught fire, all of them burst one after the other) now. I just went to the glass door and looked beyond. its amazing to watch rains. I am planning to spend some time next month, watching monsoon in kerala. I have 3 plans as of now. 1 is to go to munnar and watch the rains in a tea estate on a depressing evening. 2 is go to bekal fort, and watch the rain standing on its wall..(ever since I saw movie bombay in 95, I dreamed about it). 3 is to roam around through the canals and backwaters of kuttanadu in a house boat during a rainy day. needless to say that "and take lots of photos too"... All of these experiences will be very unique. A rainy day at mookambika is vivid now..it was a different feeling, sitting on a rock in souparnika, watching the stream. what fills you up at that instant is beyond words...its a "nice" feeling. I still cherish the day we went on top of maan para despite rains on a highly slippery track infested with leaches. cloudes were kissing our feet. when we reached on top and i couldn't see vinod whom I could touch. it was an experience of life time.. i rolled in clouds, jumped in clouds, ate clouds,hugged clouds and stamped clouds.

To wind up this post, I return to a cliche..Life is all about simple pleasures, the earlier we pursue them, the more we grab. if we postpone enjoyment to another day, that day is always tomorrow. while we race to get hold of our objectives and passion in life, never forget the low hanging fruits,simple pleasures. believe me, they are very sweet. with another sunday fading away, I feel happy though I did nothing :-).

how to miss a flight??

this blog might fall under informational category :-). this is to let you all know that I have grown bigger with time and started missing even flights :-) :-).
the only thing i would have missed in my life before were the local buses that fly between pmna and angadipuram.if you miss one,the other one will come within a minute.
in states,i have missed the local shuttles few times and had ended up waiting for next 30 minutes.
the only other occassion which i remember is a near missing of train in kottayam in 1992 after i was returning from sakhym's state camp. when me and my friend arrived in the platform,the train had just started moving and we some how managed to find ourselves inside the train and i lost my camp file in the process.

i had wondered when i used to read about instances where people missing their flights ( excluding the transit ones :-) ).
couple of times i have read news about people from kerala travelling to middle east ending up in the same airport where they started off from ...
reason is being "fell asleep"...
imagine you starting off a trip in a plane from point A to point B.
and you fell asleep..
plane reach point B after 4.5 hrs and all the ppl get out of the plane..all the passengers being keralites,i often wonder how some one didnt woke you up while he was leaving.
and the plane heads to point C..( well i missed another point..B and C are in 2 different countries :-) )
people board from C...still no one finds you sleeping or you dont get disturbed by the incoming passengers...
cabin crew never noticed you any time ...
and finally you arrive in A after some 8-9 hrs ... with some 3-4 meals served in between..to realise that you just took a longer nap than the usual one..
hard to believe??
i have read 2 such instances so far in malayalam newspapers.

now comes my story..

last monday i had to catch a flight from ohare,Chicago at 7.50 am.
i told my friend to wake me up at 5.30 am. my calculation being 45 minutes to get ready and another 45 minutes to airport. so i will be at airport by 7 am. pretty simple, straight, maths.
i woke up at 5.30 and was out of the house by 6.15 am. every thing is as per plans.
i couldnt find the driving directions to airport in the car. but then i know how to get to the free way that takes me to airport.so i start off.
its winter out there in mid west and am not that familiar with mid west climate..
bad vision in the morning..i just missed my exit to free way but didnt take much to realise that i already missed it. made a U at the next possible intersection and got back to the right route.

as soon as i entered the free way i realised couple of facts..rather re collected :-).
ohare is the one of the most busiest airports in the world !!!!
well..the definition of world is relative for us..but is not so for the airports..they are running on absolute statistics..
for a very long time..world was perintalmanna for me..after some 15 yrs it slowly expanded in another 50 miles in diameter..after another 7 yrs ..it expanded exponentially and became, 250 miles in diameter!!!!
of all these places, we had just one airport and i never had any business with air planes...
back to point...while driving on the free way,i recollected ohare is the busiest airport in the world and the traffic towards the airport reinforced that piece of information..
i could only drive at 30 mph.
then i realised its a monday morning and traffic might be heavier than usual.
then i realised, i have rented a car and is supposed to return it at the place from where i rented it from !!!!

so after 45 minutes...i found myselves at the car rental place..
2-3 minutes for the formalities out there and i found myselves in the shuttle to airport..
another 3-4 minutes for the shuttle to leave..
the access road to airport is pretty crowded and shuttle cant move faster than 15 mph...
finally..
i arrive at the airline desk at 7.25 am..
i try to do an automatic checking and the machine told me to meet an agent..
i knew what the agent was going to tell me :-)
i went and met the agent and she told me "you are late !!...you cannot go by this flight"
and issued me another ticket for the next available flight.
and i realised that i have moved to an elite class...."the class of people who missed atleast a flight"

how many of you have missed it???? :-) :-) :-)

walkin in the rains...

when did it start to rain? am not sure.but while we were returning from dinner,i felt it was drizzling.

when i was almost home,it started to pour.looks like its going to be a rainy nite !!

and when i was walking towards home it started to rain hard.i felt pretty happy about it.it hardly rains here.

once in a while..but when it rains,its really nice to be around.
i get nostalgic whenever it rains here.the rains here, have the same rythm as those in perintalmanna.i got home and pulled up my blinds..my window is a long broad sliding glass.there are no grills across as we have it back home.a sevens football team can easily come inside my room with hardly any effort but just jumping over my half wall..well..we cant imagine about such windows back home...it would be foolish to build such a window :-) :-). i pushed the window a bit,so that i can listen to rains better. i think its a bit windy outside.the rain is lashing against the glass.

looks like the rain has changed her tunes..its more soft and flat.
i can hear the rain drops lashing against my window panes..
i kept the window a lil open..just a lil..to hear it better..
hmmm..who gave her this melodious tunes???
i pulled up my blanket ...lemme call it a day...
while waitin for the sleep i thought about rains in thrissur..
thts where i had spent my bachelors days..when i was staying with my uncle and grand mother during my college days..
its a tiled roof..and rain was too smart to find gaps thru the tiles..
whenever it rained hard ... it was like a small pool inside our home ..well..it isnt just a pool..many a pools scattered around..
but it was fun listening to the ramming of drops onto the tiles.
that fun is lost forever...my house got razed off when my uncle decided to build a new home.

i realised that while we grow older..we start loosing many things we cherish..from the first school box to homes..

i woke up to the chanting of the rains....it seems to be a great morning..
its long since i woke up to a rainy day..i felt so elated.its raining hard.

i felt am home...the sound of the rain making its way through the cocconut trees and chemapaka maram used to make me ecstastic..the joy that filled up cannot be expressed in words..its a state of life..
while getting ready to go to work..i suddenly felt the idea...
why not walk to work today???

its hardly 2 kilometers..
i searched for my umbrella for a while and could finally find it in a back pack.
when i stepped out onto the rain,i felt like going back some 15 yrs in my life..schooling days !!!!
when it rains heavily thru the nite..there would be a small stream crossing our road ..it due to an over flowing pond near by ..
crossing that stream was the real fun...looking for fishes in that stream was the most exciting event of the day.
well..its a lil chilly out here..but i can manage..
why not a tea??
so i took a detour to the starbucks..
some time back i had quit drinking tea when i felt its becoming an addiction..
i didnt drink tea for almost 90 days..
these days i started taking a tea or 2 a day...i dont think its that harmfull :-)..after all wats the point in denying all those things i really enjoy in my life to make my life better..
but i had a change..from black tea i switched to green tea..
these days i take green tea...and u know it comes without milk/sugar.
its just plain tea bags and hot water..
but it does taste good..give it a try if u are yet to experience it..
u mite not like it :-) :-)..
While walking to work...i was lost in thoughts..thoughts about home...yester years..rains..school..college..bangalore..folks..
the cool breeze thats accompanying the rain made me shiver at times..looks like the wind is all set to run away with my umbrella..
let me get to work faster...

the first thing i did after reaching work was to pull up my blinds there too..its raining every where..its raining as long as i can see..when wind blows..the rain is swaying like a dancer..

wat a day it is gonna be...
its one of those most beautiful days...
i felt like going to bekal fort..thats one place where i wish to be when it rains..
standing on those fort walls..its a visual feast to watch the rains in the sea in solitude..
with one or two small boats making their way deep..u'll feel u are lost..
the feelings that occupy my mind those moments are beyond my words..
but i know u too know wat am talkin about..
before i submerge in my thoughts and disappear..lemme just publish this..

untimed thoughts...

For a change,i walked to work last week end.its around 2.5 miles and it takes around 40 minutes to my work by walk.it was a bright sunny day in the southern tip of west coast and i found it pleasant to walk.i stopped by a starbucks on my way and bought my most favorite drink :-)
black tea awake,2 tea bags,grande,room for cream :-)).every time i go to starbucks i say the same sentence.i think i never get bored by repititions.
almost at every place,i make the same choice over and over and over :-)).
well..some time back...i gave up the habit of drinking tea..i used to drink 6-8 tea a day and i continued that habit for almost 10 years.
when did i start it??
i think it was during my college days..when i had spend more time outside the classes than inside :-). was i a political leader?? never!!
i was just another follower.i never held any positions,never contested elections,never lead strikes,never did any thing significant to be remembered.
i just lived in a world of my own in that college.was never with the main stream.hardly any one would have liked me out there :-)).
i belonged to a very closely held group and that group dictated the terms in that college :-)).i had an idea about the hatred civil batch and kolenghat hostel had for me.all i never knew was wat wrong did i do to them any time.well..its too trivial to talk about those baseless rivalries.it never did me any harm.am not sure whether that fued benefited them any way either.all i was interested those days was to win elocution competitions :-)).
wat a seamless transition,from a bright sunny day in west coast,united states to thrissur....20,000 kms and 10 years !!!!
am humbled by the speed of mind.it doesnt take even seconds to move back and forth in time axis...
back to the bright sunny day,west coast,united states...
while waiting for my tea in starbucks i was thinking about a chain email that was running among us.it was a trip planning email and it ended up in my lefist inclination and recently acquired "bourgeois" ic tastes :-).
which is true infact..
addiction to starbucks,fascination for tommy hilfger t shirts,picky about gap trousers,insisting on north star back pack and timerland shoes..
what am i these days?
a transformed socialist??
rather a dead socialist and a new born captialist??
though i admit my likings,i think ideologies still remain the same..
my heros are still gandhi and nehru..i still favor the socialist movement.

back to thrissur,kerala,india..
i had been to my college last time i went to india.
i was welcomed by a pleasant surprise :-).
one of my teachers...(he dont remember me as a student of his :-) )
stopped me on those corridors..and asked me a question which i never expected.
"arent u that guy who gave that speech on that day?" and he quoted me..
i was overwhelmed...
8 years later some one remembering a sentence of mine...that was some thing.
till that moment i was feeling am into an alien world..no one seem to remember me ..those corridors,give me a "Stranger feel"..
but my professor changed it all with a single word.i got back that feeling of belonging.i would have walked across those corridors how many times a day??mostly for nothing.rarely in search of some one.
today just from no where,those corridors came back to my thoughts.
they were the silent witness to my first love :-).thts how i know them better.it blossomed in those corridors,just to die an ungraceful death later in bangalore...well am not here to talk abt that any more :-).

back to west coast..
it was deepavali yester day.well...i dont celebrate it..
early morning my friend called and asked whether am interested in having puttu-kadala???
i should be mad to turn down such an offer.15 minutes later i was busy eating puttum kadala curryum at his place.the most adored keralite breakfast.i felt am back home in perintalmanna..(well if i were in perintalmanna i would have changed my preferences :-)).).
a great breakfast after a long time.mostly i have 2 choices for my breakfast ... oatmeal or bagel.i keep switching between the two.
it didnt stop there..
a great lunch followed..beef fry being the special :-))))
(am pretty sure my mother is not gonna read this blog.she doesnt even know i rite one :-)..else she would have got hurt..
for she couldnt make me follow whatever she follows and what she believes to be right..
well..she should have given up such hopes long back..if not i admire her perseverance.. )

an after noon watching a 1984 movie.i admire MT for his scripts.i wish i were him.i would written sagas about human emotions.just about them and nothing else..

an evening in the indian place of the town..eating some north indian snacks..a ride to pacific coast..a lil time at the water front on a high tide hr..a stroll through the down town streets ...it was a great day y'day...

and today ....
corridors kept me busy :-)

of course,un timed..as it is always :-))

nothing..

am busy these days..a lil more work load and few things to take care of take away most of my creative time.i was thinking of publishing a blog for a while.to be frank am in pursuit of some topics..
today..i was waiting for some one to turn up..and then thought i mite scribble some thing in the mean time.but then..am not getting the flow to rite.my sentences are breaking ...
let me get back.....
may be some other time i will rite abt waitings ..
the uncertainity of waiting..
the rejoice at the end of a wait..
the tinge of despair...
and the ocassional frustration that accompany a long waiting..
the thoughts that run down when we keep waiting..
the images that flash in our thoughts..the incidents we love to cherish..
contemplations abt the sequences of events to follow at the end of a wait..
the relief that it brings when a wait is finally over..
too many things rite :-)
well..lemme keep it aside for another day..
